Introduction
Obese individuals aim for lasting weight loss, better health, and improved well-being. Barriers include medical conditions, unsustainable diets, ineffective interventions, and poor mental health support. The weight loss industry often promotes harmful strategies and repeated failed attempts are common. Discrimination and misinformation also make the journey harder.

Goal
Based on each patient's history, we want specialized experts—such as psychologists, dietitians, endocrinologists, and physical therapists—to assess the patient's case individually. These experts will set personalized goals, like recommending specific tests, and track the patient's progress over time, continuously refining their approach to ensure optimal outcomes.

Analysis

Personas
To better understand our target audience, we created detailed personas representing the users we aim to engage. We developed three personas, each tailored to the unique needs of different specialties. After outlining each persona, our primary focus was identifying the specific expectations they would have from Pluma.

Moodboard
We created a mood board divided into two key sections. The first focuses on the medical folder, encompassing all relevant elements for individuals seeking weight loss. The second highlights the chat and video call features, which facilitate communication between the patient and doctor.

‘Crazy 8’ exercise
Following this analysis, we invited the Pluma stakeholders to participate in a Crazy 8 exercise. We gave them key elements and context, outlining specific goals to guide their brainstorming and inspire creative solutions during the session.

Goal
Pluma’s Care Team is composed by 4 members that need to work together to help each patient achieve their desired goals.

To be able to work together as a team, they need to have clarity on all medical information regarding each patient and the ability to easily collaborate to provide the right Care Plan and treatment the patient needs.

Context
The Care Team should be able to:

  1. Collaborate and communicate easily so they can inform, comment, discuss or resolve any doubts that might pop up during the patient’s journey

  2. Have access to the patient’s information in a clear and comprehensible way, such as:
    - Contact information (name, email, phone, etc.)
Basic information (age, sex, height, weight, etc.)
    - Medical information (chronic diseases, allergies, family’s medical history, etc.)
    - Lab studies and medication/prescriptions
    - Appointment history and appointment notes
    - Care plan
    - See the progress of the patient regarding their goals and the Care Plan provided

Concept

Patient Information
We concentrated primarily on patient information, as it was a new feature for the company, while the video call functionality already existed in Doctoranytime and had limited technical flexibility for changes.

Architecture information
We developed an information architecture for the medical folder, outlining the data that would appear on the page. This helped us assess its technical feasibility and ensure seamless integration into the platform.

Sketch
Given the limited time for creating the MVP, we decided to begin by designing a basic sketch for the page structure in the first phase.

Personal Information
The first section includes personal info about the patient:

  • Name, surname, phone number, email

  • Weight, gender, age

  • Medical information

  • Chat and video calls

  • Next appointment

Care plane
The care plan is developed collaboratively by all medical specialties, allowing them to upload files related to nutrition, exercises, and other necessary activities for the user. Additionally, they can set milestones with specific goals to incorporate a sense of gamification and track progress effectively.

Dashboard
The doctor can monitor the patient's progress using a chart that compares BMI with weight.

Files
In this section, doctors will have access to various files that have been shared with the patient.
